As an intern, you will gain a general understanding of how a television Creative Services department runs. You will learn the fundamentals of writing and producing effective topical promotion for WMUR.
Interns will learn to:
- Understand the fundamentals of writing and producing effective news topical promotion.
- Explore broadcast and digital marketing and learn the responsibilities of the Creative Services Department.

WVTM 13 is looking for a Creative Services Intern to join the team behind the marketing and promotion of the NBC-affiliate station in Central Alabama. Creative Services develops the station’s brand, produces promotional campaigns, and connects viewers across Central Alabama with the stories that matter most.
This internship offers hands-on experience in broadcast marketing, storytelling, and television promotion. You’ll work alongside experienced producers, editors, and writers while learning how effective promos are developed from concept to air.
As a Creative Services Intern, you will:
- Write news topical promotions supporting WVTM 13 News/Weather and station programming.
- Assist with promo shoots and commercial production, both in-house and on location.
- Observe and participate in the creative process behind station marketing campaigns.
- Support editing, script development, and production preparation within the Creative Services department.
- Help produce Public Service Announcements (PSAs) and other projects that reflect WVTM 13’s commitment to the communities of Central Alabama.
This is a great opportunity for students interested in broadcast promotion, marketing, writing, video production, or digital storytelling.

Students will get experience in TV producing, reporting, news gathering and all-platform news writing and editing.
The Pittsburgh’s Action News team brings live updates from all of Pittsburgh’s communities, in-depth coverage of issues that matter most to viewers, and works to take action for viewers and hold public officials accountable.

You will come to understand how a television station functions, the many jobs available and the roles the TV station plays in the community. As an intern, you’ll learn what it’s like to work with a collaborative team across multiple departments, how we get news on the air and on our digital platforms, and the vital role other departments play at the television station.
Newsroom interns will spend 10 to 12 weeks shadowing and gaining experience in the following departments:
Assignment Desk

TV News Production

As a news intern, you are part of the team that is “Kansas City’s News Leader”. For every person you see on camera, there are many more with exciting responsibilities in the KMBC 9 Newsroom. You’ll gain experience writing, editing, producing, and reporting the news. The veteran journalists leading the way at KMBC 9 News will give interns a chance to try their hand in the following aspects of the news operation.
REPORT & PHOTOGRAPHY
Work with reporters and photographers to develop, shoot, write and edit stories for broadcast.
Shoot standups, write and produce stories for demo-reels.
Receive feedback from Anchors, reporters, photographers, and managers on your work.
Work on the fast-paced assignment desk finding breaking news and other stories.
PRODUCING
Learn how producers create shows that are compelling, creative, and valuable to the viewer.
Practice creating effective teases that hold the audience’s attention.
Participate in editorial and planning meetings.
Observe live production of newscasts from the control room.
FIRST ALERT WEATHER
Learn the tools and techniques used to create informative forecasts.
Possibly participate in any severe weather coverage.
Practice forecasting using state of the art tools and chroma key.
Help meteorologists put together broadcasts.
DIGITAL MEDIA
Work with producers on Kansas City’s top digital and social platforms.
Learn how digital content is created and delivered.
Create content that could appear on KMBC.COM and other digital platforms.
You will also have the chance to participate in a KMBC “Intern newscast”. Whether you want to produce, anchor, report or forecast, the “Intern newscast” is your chance to work with other interns to create a newscast you can use to build your demo-reel.

The Sales Department generates revenue for the stations by utilizing our commercial inventory on both linear TV and Digital platforms to help our advertisers grow their business. SALES MEETINGS
Attend weekly Sales meetings led by Sales management to gain insight into the objectives and priorities of the Sales team.

As a KOCO Intern you will come to understand how a professional newsroom operates and be expected to contribute to that operation. The internship is paid and is hands-on.
On a daily basis, interns will be in the middle of the newsroom assisting reporters and producers. Interns will also have the opportunity to accompany crews in the field and may even have the opportunity to field produce on their own.

WTAE-TV, the Hearst-owned ABC affiliate in Pittsburgh, PA is recruiting college students for our 12-week paid internship program, which provides a hands-on professional learning experience, with an emphasis on exploring all facets of the Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 newsroom. Students will get experience in TV producing, reporting, news gathering and all-platform news writing and editing.
The Pittsburgh’s Action News team brings live updates from all of Pittsburgh’s communities, in-depth coverage of issues that matter most to viewers, and works to take action for viewers and hold public officials accountable.
Interns are introduced to every aspect of news operation, including but not limited to; news producing, digital content creation, assignment desk operations, news photography, news editing, and broadcast production. Interns work closely with assignment desk editors and producers with the goal of newsgathering, producing, writing, and presenting news content.
Qualifications
Ambitious, reliable, and enthusiastic college students should have some classroom experience in broadcast journalism, and preferably some knowledge of a television newsroom. Newsroom interns will spend 10 to 12 weeks, 20 hours per week, shadowing and gaining experience in the following departments:

BROADCAST TECHNICAL OPERATIONS:
The Technical Operations internship resides within WGAL’s Engineering department. This internship includes actual “hands on” operation of equipment under the observation of permanent tech op staff members. The goal of this internship is to expose the student to real world daily technical operations in a television station. The training of the interns would be similar to what would be taught in a vocational/technical school.
Each intern will gain a general understanding of the following technical areas:
- Control Room/Studio Operations (Floor Direct, Audio, Directing)
- Air Operations (Master Control)
- ENG Receive
- IT
After completing time in each of the above areas, the remainder of the program will be designated for students to return to their area(s) of choice to gain additional training. The intern's scheduled days will remain the same from week to week however, hours will vary.
Equipment Use: As the purpose of the internship is to gain training in the technical areas, students will be allowed to touch and train on the technical equipment. Use of the equipment will be limited and closely supervised and monitored.
Internships are scheduled based on mutual availability and academic schedule and requirements, but may consist of up to 24-hours per week

WMTW-TV, the ABC affiliate in Portland, ME, has an opening for a summer News Intern. This 10-week paid internship provides individuals the opportunity to learn about the operations of a broadcast television station. You will gain knowledge of the broadcast industry through exposure to all the positions within the News and Production departments. This internship will run from approximately mid-May until mid-August with some flexibility based on your availability.

Job Description:
News Interns will work alongside reporters, producers, directors, studio operators, and News managers to experience nearly all aspects of television news creation.
You will receive hands-on experience with positions in the newsroom, including:
- Assignment Desk – learn how news is gathered and assigned
- Reporting – shadow reporters on interviews and during live shots
- Photographer – shadow photographers as they film and edit news stories and coordinate live shots
- Digital Media – learn about the strategic use of WMTW’s website and social media platforms
- Producing – understand the process of creating a news broadcast from scratch and learn the basics of television news writing
- Directing – observe the technical execution of newscasts including directing live shows and audio operation
- Studio Camera Operator – learn camera shots, angles and lighting
Interns will also learn about departments outside of the newsroom, including Sales, Creative Services, and Engineering.
Final Candidates are subject to a background check as a condition of employment with WMTW-TV.
